HOW TO BE SAVED
5 Simple Steps to Complete Salvation
Once you go through these five steps, you are born again, saved, and have eternal life. God’s love makes it possible to obtain salvation. It requires only five simple steps:
Step 1.
Recognize and admit that you are a sinner. We are all by our human nature sinners. Psalm 51:5 says “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.” This was King David pleading to God for forgiveness – “A man after God’s own heart” (1 Samuel 13:13-14 KJV). No matter how good we are, we will never meet God’s perfect standing, but wait, there is a good news! “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” (John 3:16-17 KJV). Again God says “I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more” (Jeremiah. 31:34 KJV). So, just come to Him the way you are.
Step 2.
Confess and believe. God loves us enough to pay the price of our sins by sacrificing His only Son. The bible says “The wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23 KJV). But again there is a good news! “If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart, man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:9-10 KJV).
Step 3.
RepentGod wants us to repent from our sinful ways. He says “Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions, so iniquity shall not be your ruin” (Ezekiel 18:30). He also wants a change of heart, a change of mind, and a change of direction.
Step 4.
ReceiveAccepting Jesus as your Lord and personal savior means you surrender all to Him and continue to live your daily life in Him. The Bible says “As you, therefore, have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith” (Colossians 2:6-7 NKJV).
Step 5.
Water baptism. Baptism is symbolic of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is an outward sign of an inward change. “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin”(Romans 6:3-6).
There is one more thing you need to know. Your new life in Christ-like all new convert is in a growing stage. Once you are saved you are saved. But you need to find a Bible-based church that will strengthen your growth. Be obedient to God’s Word, pray daily, and confess positively. This will help you to stay in constant fellowship with the Father and live life successfully as a Christian.
